Online Travel Campaign Success

This past year, the Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention has utilized an online getaway giveaway to generate visits to its website, increase potential customers for online communications and generate travel. With an incentive to win a getaway prize to Washington Wine Country, the getaway campaign has been a major online and print feature for 2011.

Since the beginning of this year, the project has generated 27,762 unique page views to the website, resulting in 9,401 contest entries. Of those folks, 49% have opted in to receive future email updates on the Yakima Valley. It’s interesting to note that page views and entries closely correlated to the months when advertising campaigns were underway in online and print media.

One of the lucky winners of the quarterly getaways was Jean Udell of Riverside, CA. Though she can’t recall how she found out about the contest, she is excited to come as she has not been to this area before.  She won a getaway to Prosser, WA and plans to visit late spring or early summer next year.
